Business Controller
Steady Energy is a Finnish nuclear technology company developing the LDR-50 small modular reactor (SMR) to deliver safe, scalable, and carbon-free heat production for district heating and industrial applications. Our mission is to accelerate the clean energy transition by combining world-class engineering, uncompromising nuclear safety, and agile product development. As among the 10 most promising start ups in Finland (according to EU-startups), Steady Energy has secured €30 million in funding to reshape energy generation and bring its zero-emission heating plants to the market by 2030.
We are looking for a Business Controller to support us in versatile financial activities. The role plays an active part in developing financial processes, producing high-quality financial reporting, and supporting the company’s growth and strategic decision-making. In this position, you will work closely with the CFO and other key stakeholders, such as external accounting firms, to ensure a timely and precise approach to all financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in collaboration with the external accounting firm.
- Develop and maintain financial and operational KPIs to support performance monitoring and decision-making.
- Support the preparation of Board materials, management reporting, and investor reporting.
- Monitor financial performance and analyze variances against budgets, forecasts, and strategic targets.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
- Develop and maintain management reporting tools, dashboards, and financial models.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support financing activities, funding applications, and reporting obligations related to public funding and financing arrangements.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital, providing insights to support effective financial management.
- Support project accounting, cost tracking, investment monitoring, and profitability analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement of financial processes, reporting systems, and internal controls.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, business cases, and presentations for management, the Board, investors, and financing partners.
- Collaborate closely with business units and external stakeholders to provide financial insights and support operational and strategic decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in controlling, financial reporting, accounting, audit, or a similar finance role.
- Strong analytical skills and solid financial modelling capabilities.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with reporting systems is considered an advantage.
- Good understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, and financial processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Finnish and English.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive approach with strong adaptability to fast-changing requirements.
- Experience in a project-based delivery business environment is considered an advantage.
- Experience in IFRS is considered an advantage.
- Experience in a growth company or scale-up environment is considered an advantage.

Other Terms and Conditions:
The position requires a security clearance conducted by the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo). Employment is subject to passing clearance.
