We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our engineering team working on heat-only SMR projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of electrical systems that ensure reliable, safe, and efficient plant operation. In the role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute to projects from early concept design through detailed engineering and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define electrical design requirements based on plant design criteria, safety requirements, and applicable electrical and nuclear codes and standards.
  • Design electrical power distribution systems for industrial facilities.
  • Prepare and review electrical design documentation, such as single line diagrams, electrical load lists, power system calculations and system descriptions.
  • Specify and select electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, MCCs, drives, batteries, UPS systems and cabling.
  • Develop electrical design criteria and technical specifications for project execution.
  • Perform and review short-circuit, load flow, and protection coordination studies.
  • Support the preparation of tender documentation and technical evaluation of supplier proposals.
  • Coordinate electrical interfaces with automation, instrumentation, layout, mechanical, and process engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in quality, licensing and qualification planning related to electrical engineering.
  • Participate in design reviews, safety assessments, factory acceptance tests and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and safety requirements.

Qualifications:

  • MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering in industrial projects (energy, process industry, nuclear, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of medium and low voltage power distribution systems.
  • Experience in preparing technical specifications and engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with SFS 6000, 6001 and 6002, and international standards such as IEC, EN, or equivalent electrical codes.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English55.

Preferred:

  • Experience with power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, Neplan, DIgSILENT, or similar).
  • Experience in energy, chemical, power generation, or other process industry projects.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area electrical design (ATEX/IECEx environments).
  • Experience in large industrial or EPC projects.
  • Experience from the nuclear industry is seen as a benefit.

Other Terms and Conditions:

The position requires a security clearance conducted by the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo). Employment is subject to passing clearance.
