Nuclear Safety Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Nuclear Safety Engineer to join our engineering team focused on safety aspects in the design and development process of the LDR-50 reactor. In this role, you will perform deterministic safety analyses across different operational conditions and possibilities to ensure safe and reliable plant performance in line with regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will apply a high level of analytical proficiency to interpret plant behavior, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on testing and experimental programs, and contribute to licensing activities through safety documentation and regulatory support.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Deterministic Safety Analyses, including normal operation, anticipated operational occurrences (AOOs), and accident conditions.
- Develop and maintain safety case in line with national and international regulatory frameworks.
- Apply and interpret thermal-hydraulic, neutronic, and system-level codes to evaluate plant behavior under various scenarios.
- Participation to the experimental test program development, support and result analysis.
- Support licensing activities, including preparation of Safety Analysis Report and responses to regulatory inquiries.
- Review and assess design changes for their impact on nuclear safety.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of practical experience in Deterministic Safety Analysis, supported by a strong understanding of relevant principles and regulatory expectations.
- Experience with relevant safety analysis tools (e.g., RELAP, TRACE, or similar). Experience with APROS is seen as a major benefit.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly in written and verbal form.
- Fluency in English.

Other Terms and Conditions:
The position requires a security clearance conducted by the Finnish Security and Intelligence Service (Supo). Employment is subject to passing clearance.
